Extract of i.6 of Competition Regulations “Procedure of Expert Evaluation of Samples in Special Categories – “Retail Chains’ Choice”, “ECO style”, “NEW style”, “NEW technology”
The samples that were tasted in the key categories of the Competition are to be evaluated in special categories of the Competition.
To evaluate the samples in these categories, retail chain representatives and subject-matter experts can participate alongside with the Expert Panel.
Only previously selected samples that received the gold prize from the Expert Panel in the key category in the corresponding price segment are subject to evaluation in the “RETAIL CHAINS CHOICE” category. The organoleptic evaluation of the samples is conducted by retail chain representatives via blind tasting, where only taste and aroma characteristics are being estimated on a 1 to 5 scale (5-4 points – gold medal, less then 4 points – silver medal).
The prize in this category is a Medal Award Diploma.
The “ECO style” category accounts for the samples of alcoholic drinks produced with raw materials or technologies that meet the requirements of ecological or organic standards. In order to take part in this category, alongside with an application for the sample, the participant should submit copies of corresponding certificates (for organic or ecostandards) or copies of the reports that confirm more strict material or ingredient quality requirements in comparison with the essential requirements of public authorities in the country of origin (a confirmation of using the materials that were produced (grown) without any synthetic chemicals or grown in eco-friendly areas).The samples that were previously evaluated by the Expert Panel and received a gold, silver or bronze prize in the key category and of the corresponding price segment participate in this category.

The “ECO style” category of the Alcohol Competition accounts for the alcohols that meet the essential requirements of the standard process documentation (GOST 5962-2013 “Crude ethyl alcohol from edible raw material. Specifications” or relevant national standards of producing countries) are accepted. Manufacturers of alcohols of “Organic” grade submit a Certificate of Conformity issued by voluntary certification systems or the documents showing compliance to the Federal Law N 280-FZ “On Organic Products and on Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation” as of 03 August, 2020, with due regard for entry into legal force of this Law on 01 January, 2020. In order to demonstrate compliance with the requirements, manufacturers of alcohols who adhere to higher standards of the quality of raw materials (grains) or of the technological process in order to assure higher standards of ecological well-being of the finished product (alcohols), submit extracts from Corporate Standards, Quality Management Systems, Process Control Systems, copies of Certificates or Declaration on raw or expendable materials.
The samples that were previously evaluated by the Expert Panel and received a gold, silver or bronze prize in the key category and of the corresponding price segment participate in this category.

The “NEW style” category accounts for the samples of alcoholic drinks produced using new ingredients, odors and flavors that differ from traditional or well-known ones, but also new kinds of drinks or new formulas with unique recipe ingredients.
The samples that were previously evaluated by the Expert Panel and received a gold, silver or bronze prize in the key category and of the corresponding price segment participate in this category.
The prize is awarded in accordance with the key category medal (Note: The prize in this category is a Medal Award Diploma.
The “NEW technology” category accepts the samples of alcoholic drinks produced using standards or technologies applied to avoid usage of ingredients or other technological substances that are capable to increase toxic effects of ethyl alcohol. In this category, HACCP certificates can be accepted providing that the selection of formulation ingredients of alcoholic drinks is taken under control as a critical control point or a control point (an extract from HACCP documents used as a confirmation). Besides, the samples of alcoholic drinks produced using methods, standards or technologies that are capable to decrease toxic effects of ethyl alcohol are accepted in this category. To participate in this category, the Applicant must submit copies of certificates, extracts from standards (methods), safety systems, or reports confirming the use of special ingredients or technologies in the production of this sample to reduce the toxicity of ethyl alcohol, or to achieve protection of the consumer's body from the toxic effects of ethyl alcohol.
The samples that were previously evaluated by the Expert Panel and received a gold, silver or bronze prize in the key category and of the corresponding price segment participate in this category.
The prize is awarded in accordance with the key category medal (Note: The prize in this category is a Medal Award Diploma.
The “NEW technology” category accepts the alcohols that meet the mandatory requirements of the standard process documentation (GOST 5962-2013 “Crude Ethyl Alcohol from Edible Raw Material. Technical Specifications”) or relevant national standards of producing countries.
For participation in this category, nominated manufacturers shall provide copies of certificates (HACCP, ISO), standards of organizations, as well as other documents confirming the use of methods or technologies in the production of this alcohol that place higher requirements on the level of safety of this alcohol.

The prize is awarded in accordance with the key category medal (Note: The prize in this category is a Medal Award Diploma.
The terms of participation (except the price) in special categories may be revised due to the amount of participation applications in every category (Retail Chains’ Choice”, “ECO style”, “NEW style”, “NEW technology”). In case of such updates, the hosts or the management of the Competition is obliged to notify all the participants beforehand (by sending a notifying e-mail to the address that was specified in the application form for participation in special categories of the Competition).
